Thank you for stopping by! My name is Ruben, a 38-year-old fellow originally from Oslo, currently living in Sweden. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in coding, programming and computers. Not to mention all the nice analogue and digital gadgets and IoT stuff available out there. Tech in general I would say! 🤓
For the past decade, I have worked full-time across various aspects of the web, specializing in crafting user-friendly digital experiences as both a developer and designer.
I see myself as a pragmatic “generalist” and have a lot of different skills in my toolbox 🛠️ to solve many of the challenges we face when working in the modern web development profession (and some stuff outside that area as well).
I won't lie and tell you that I know-it-all! But I do feel that I am quite good at solving problems and finding good solutions in the projects and for the client's that I work with.
So what is a good solution you say? It could be solving problems or needs for the end user, reducing friction. Or making life a little easier for editors, shop admins or content creators when they are doing their job (..also reducing friction). All-in-all analyzing and interpreting the actual needs, taking action on the findings, considering factors like budget, deadline's an so on.

2020 - todayAs a full-stack developer I build modern web applications across the stack both working on the front and back-end. Creating applications with technologies such as React, Next.js, Astro with a focus on creating maintainable, scalable solutions that balance performance, usability and long-term flexibility. Often strictly typed and loosely coupled.
Many of the projects I work on are built within the WordPress ecosystem (headless and traditional in different shapes), but I also have experience with other CMS platforms and content-driven systems where the project or client calls for it.
As a Tech Lead for headless projects I help define architecture and technical direction making sure teams build robust and future-proof solutions. I’m closely involved in implementation, bridging the gap between strategy and hands-on development.

2017 - 2020My job involved building websites, campaign sites, managing hosting on AWS and web development. Being involved in many parts of the process from planning, UX and design to development and shipping.
Working primary with WordPress as the CMS, responsive frameworks like Bootstrap and Foundation, building custom WP themes based on vanilla WP and Roots Sage.
In my role I was also involved in other parts of the business, cooperating closely with SEO and CRO-teams. Occasionally I was also doing in-house photography work (as I have a photography education).

2009 - todayAfter completing my photography eduction I freelanced as a photographer for several years, and still do some work here and there.
I do editorial and magazine work, as well as studio photography like products, still life, food, portraits and more.
